Baked Bacon Jam Beans Recipe October 22 2013


  • 1 lb dried Great Northern Beans
  • 8oz Red Chile & Garlic Bacon Jam
  • water
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste


Place the beans into a large container and cover with cool water; let stand 8 hours to overnight. Drain and rinse before using.

Place the beans in a large pan with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce medium-low, cover, and simmer 1 hour.

Strain and reserve the cooking water.Preheat oven to 370. Mix The Bacon Jams Roasted Garlic and Chile Spreadable Bacon and the tomato paste together in a small mixing bowl.

Put the beans in an oven safe dish and fold in the bacon jam and tomato paste mixture. Stir in enough of the reserved water to cover the beans about ¼ inchCover and bake for 15 minutes.

Reduce the heat to 200, stir every 30 minutes, and cook 6 hours or until the beans are tender and the sauce is viscous. Let stand for 10 minute before serving.
